Dong-Su Kim is the CEO and board member of LG Technology Ventures. He has over twenty-five years of investment, strategy, planning, and technology experience. As the founding CEO, Dong-Su established the fund structure, hired key people, and initiated investment operations. Under his guidance, LG Technology Ventures manages over $885 million of fund assets and invests in early-stage information technology, automotive, manufacturing, life-sciences, energy, and advanced materials companies. 
Previously, Dong-Su was Vice President and GM of Samsung Ventures America where he managed offices in Menlo Park, Boston, London, and Tel Aviv. He has led the investment of over thirty companies in diverse sectors including semiconductors (Soft Machines, Verisilicon, Wave Computing), equipment (DCG Systems, IMS, Reno Subsystems), materials (Nanosys, NexPlanar, Voltaix), and storage systems (Pure Storage).

Prior to joining Samsung Ventures, he was a Director at Asia Evolution, an investment bank in Korea covering mid-market financing, private placement, and M&As.

Before that, he was a Director at the Technology Strategy Office of Samsung Electronics. As the CTO’s staff, he was responsible for strategic venture investments and technology alliances. He also worked in technology planning for Samsung’s Telecom R&D center, responsible for discovering new research topics. Dong-Su started his professional career as a Technical Leader at Samsung Fiber Optics Business Unit in development of fiber optic components.

His past Board Director appointments include Datera, Digital Specialty Chemicals, Femtometrix, Inpria, Reno Subsystems, SBA Materials, SVXR, D2S, DCG Systems (acquired by FEI), NexPlanar (acquired by Cabot), Voltaix (acquired by Air Liquide), Panasas, and Pixtronix (acquired by Qualcomm). Dong-Su also served on the Investment Advisory Committee for Sierra Ventures.

Yoonsung Jung is a seasoned CFO with over 20 years of experience in the finance industry, including more than 15 years with LG Group. 

He has developed deep expertise in Mergers & Acquisitions, Business Development, and Strategic and Financial Planning, successfully navigating complex financial landscapes and contributing to the growth of global enterprises.

 Prior to his role as CFO at LG Technology Ventures in 2022, Yoonsung served at LG Corp., the holding company of LG Group, where he was responsible for overseeing strategic financial planning and managing business portfolios. 

Before joining LG Corp., he spent a decade on the M&A deal team at LG Electronics, where he played a key role in managing cross-border deals. 

Yoonsung began his career in business consulting and investment banking, providing valuable insights before transitioning to his strategic roles at LG Group.

Mark (Namyoung) Kim is the Head of Business Development and Investor Relations at LG Technology Ventures. He leads strategic collaborations between portfolio companies and LG affiliates and oversees communications with Limited Partners (LPs) to maximize investment outcomes.

Mark brings over 20 years of experience across multiple LG Group affiliates, including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Fuel Cell Systems (a joint venture with Rolls-Royce Group), and LG Corp. His background spans corporate strategy, technology planning, business development, and open innovation. Prior to joining LG Technology Ventures in 2021, he managed LG Group’s open innovation initiatives at LG Science Park and supported group-wide energy business strategies at LG Corp’s Energy Task Force Team.

Outside of work, he enjoys traveling with his wife and two children and spending time outdoors playing soccer, basketball, and golf.

Mr. McIntyre has over twenty-five years of experience as an investor, entrepreneur, and advisor with technology start-ups in Silicon Valley.

Robert joined LG Technology Ventures in 2018 and has served on the boards of Element Energy, ConnectDER, South 8 Technologies, Sion Power, and Eatron with successful exits in Arcellx (IPO), Amwell (IPO), Aardvark Therapeutics (IPO), and Optodot. Prior to LG, Robert served as a Partner at CMEA Ventures ($1b AUM) and an associate at H.I.G. Capital ($60b AUM) where he led investments in Ageia (acquired by Nvidia), Intermolecular (IPO), Schooner (acquired by Sandisk), Lvl7 Systems (acquired by Broadcom), and Mojo Networks (acquired by Arista Networks).

As an entrepreneur, Mr. McIntyre has served as a business development executive at several start-up companies including NextBio (acquired by Illumina), TeselaGen Biotechnology, and AirWave Wireless (acquired by Hewlett-Packard).

Mr. McIntyre holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MBA from the Wharton School, where he was a Palmer Scholar.

Taejoon has over fifteen years of experience as a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley and has played a pivotal role in building the AI investment portfolio at LG Technology Ventures since joining as one of its founding members in 2018. His portfolio includes Anthropic, Inworld AI, Moloco, Figure AI, ElevenLabs, poolside, Cresta, and DataFleets (acquired by LiveRamp), among others.

Prior to LG Technology Ventures, Taejoon spent seven years at Applied Ventures, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials, a leading semiconductor equipment company. As a senior member of the investment team, he was responsible for investments in semiconductors, semiconductor equipment, process technologies, advanced materials, and cleantech. Taejoon led and managed investments in DMO Systems (acquired by Applied Materials), Digital Specialty Chemicals (acquired by Entegris), Inpria (acquired by JSR), Voltaix (acquired by Air Liquide), and Enki Technology (acquired by First Solar). Earlier in his career, Taejoon was a senior consultant at Monitor Group’s Seoul office, where he worked on a wide range of strategy projects for major Korean conglomerates across the electronics, chemicals, automotive, oil & gas, cleantech, and mobile sectors. Taejoon holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California Berkeley. Sungkwon began his career with LG in January 2012 and has held various R&D and corporate roles across the LG Group, including positions at LG Chem – Life Sciences, LG Corp – Tech Center, and LG Technology Ventures.

Prior to joining LG in Silicon Valley, he was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, where he focused on the chemical, energy, semiconductor, healthcare, and biopharma industries.

Sungkwon holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University and dual B.S. degrees with Honors in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from Virginia Tech.

Krishna’s view of the world changed when he was 11. He was given a Lego Mindstorms set. Ever since, he has been passionate about technology, tinkering and learning how things work.

Krishna has immense respect for the tenacity and dedication required to build companies from the ground-up. In his current role, he believes that his main purpose is to support founders and their teams.

Throughout his career, Krishna has worked at a range of organizations across four continents. He started his career at McKinsey and Company, was the first employee at a FinTech startup and has worked at IDEO, Amazon and Accenture.

Krishna holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and an MBA from London Business School.

Outside of work, Krishna enjoys chasing his daughter around, exploring new restaurants with his wife and traveling.

Youngjun (Jun) is passionate about diverse subsectors of deep technologies and has over ten years of experience as an investor, financial advisor, and entrepreneur. 

Prior to joining LG Technology Ventures, Jun worked as an equity analyst at Goldman Sachs' equity research division, M&A advisor at Deutsche Bank's investment banking division, and equity analyst at a TMT long/short equity hedge fund based in NYC. 

Jun holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and BA in Business Administration at Korea University in Seoul, Korea.

Yong Joon started his career as an investment analyst at Rutter Private Equity and experienced various types of investments, from buyouts and growth capital to mezzanine deals. Yong Joon spent five years at Rutter Private Equity and three years at KPMG in the M&A division.

Yong Joon holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, a BA degree in Economics, and a MA degree in International Business and Finance from Brandeis University.

Yong Joon Choi

Freddy is passionate about building a better future through technology, especially IoT, VR / AR, robotics, and space tech. He has a decade of experience in deep-tech venture capital across corporate and institutional funds with Samsung Ventures, Grishin Robotics Venture Capital, CPP Investments, and a Web3 Accelerator.

His technical experience includes MEMS and microfluidics research at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, Berkeley Sensor and Actuator Center, and the Italian Institute of Technology Nanotechnology Lab. He has built robotic rovers for The Mars Society and launched rockets from high-altitude balloons. An avid tinkerer, Freddy enjoys building computers and programming complex IoT automations, including hacking development boards into existing “dumb” appliances and running and fine-tuning AI on local hardware to turn his home into a fully automated “smart house”. 

Freddy holds a B.S. in Engineering Physics with a minor in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from UC Berkeley and an M.S. in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford. He volunteers at UC Berkeley Launch, and Stanford Lean Launchpad, and is a frequent speaker at local VC and startup events.


Frederick Dopfel

With over twenty-five years of experience in the IT sector, Gyunhong Kim has established himself as a leading engineer, consultant, strategist, and open innovation evangelist. His career began at LG CNS, where he spent nineteen years, initially as an IT infrastructure engineer, executing over eighty projects across diverse industries including public, manufacturing, defense, financial, education, and retail.

Transitioning from engineering to strategic roles, Gyunhong focused on consulting, technology evaluation, corporate strategy development, and new business ventures. His expertise was further recognized when he served as a judge for Seoul's Hackathon challenge and as an advisor to the Korean National Information Society Agency (NIA).

Gyunhong's contributions have been honored with a Bronze degree from LG Group's Future Challenger program, and he has received accolades from The Korean Police Agency and Shinhan Bank for his pivotal role in implementing new IT systems.

Educated with a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Hanyang University and an MBA from LG Academy, where he graduated cum laude and led his team to win the Best Project Award, Gyunhong brings a wealth of knowledge and innovation to LG Technology Ventures. Since joining in August 2018, he has been instrumental in crafting business models that align with our portfolio's strategic goals.

Outside of his professional life, Gyunhong enjoys golf, photography, and exploring new destinations on road trips.

Gyun Hong Kim

Senior Director, Business Development

Prior to joining LG Technology Ventures, Jinha worked in LG Display for more than 15 years, and had various experiences for recent 9 years in the open innovation field including OI planning, technology scouting, startup incubating/accelerating, global external network communication and national project management.

Jinha established open innovation strategies and discovered emerging technologies in the fields of OLED materials, quantum dots, and micro LEDs for future display preparation and discussed business models with global partners(Merck, JNC, Nanosys, Imec, PlayNitride etc) and led over dozens of contracts such as JDA(Joint development agreement), MEA(Material Evaluation Agreement), TTA(Technology Transfer Agreement) successfully. Jinha also set up internal/external startup incubating and accelerating programs of LG Display and operated those initially. Before that, Jinha managed a number of national projects, cooperated with the ‘Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning’ and the ‘Korean Display Industry Association’, and explored EU national projects such as Eureka, FP7, and Horizon 2020 to expand cooperation opportunities.

Jinha began his career in the display material purchasing team in 2006. Jinha has experienced most of the display materials including liquid crystal, photoresist, chemical, target, and especially focused on material replacement evaluation for cost innovation. Jinha set up the entire evaluation process from TFT, CF fabrication to display module reliability test and also participated in the evaluation directly to analyze and improve defects, so that he successfully led multi-million dollars cost innovations by replacement of liquid crystal.

Jinha Kim

Senior Manager, Business Development

John has over ten years of experience in the field of telecommunications and IT services as a sales representative, marketing strategist, and partnership manager.

Prior to joining LG Technology Ventures, he spent seven years at SK Telesys as a sales representative for government-sponsored national system integration projects in the Southeast Asia region, backed by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) from KEXIM (The Export-Import Bank of Korea). He also spent two years at Innowireless as a marketing strategist, supporting the sales of LTE small cells and NMS to mobile network operators (MNOs) in the US, UK, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

In 2016, John (Jun Hee) joined LG Uplus, a telecommunications operator in Korea, where he led efforts to build global strategic partnerships with major players in telecommunications services, including Verizon, T-Mobile, Bell Canada, Google, and Facebook.

John holds a B.A. in International Commerce from Kyunghee University. He loves water sports and was a member of a local swimming team during his junior high school days. Today, he is passionate about road cycling, which has fueled his craving for speed and inspired him to travel to explore new routes during his spare time.


John Jun Hee Lee

Seonghwan is a materials scientist and venture capital business development professional with over 13 years of experience in advanced materials, thin film technology and open innovation. He currently works at LG Technology Ventures Corporate Venture Business Development Team, where he is involved in early stage evaluation and business development activities related to LG Chem and LG Energy Solution. His responsibilities include supporting the identification of new technologies and business opportunities in the areas of advanced materials, battery materials and sustainable solutions.

 Previously, Seonghwan held various positions at LG Chem, where he contributed to R&D collaborations and open innovation initiatives focusing on next-generation materials and battery technologies. He started his career as a researcher developing optically clear water barrier films for OLED protection and is an inventor on several patents in thin film and coating technologies.

Seonghwan holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in materials science and engineering from Korea University. He values collaboration and continuous learning and strives to contribute to the growth of innovative companies in the materials and energy sectors.


Seonghwan Lee

Since joining LG Technology Ventures in 2019, Annie has broadened her experience across financial planning, fund operations (managed 12 funds with $780M in AUM), and investor relations. In her current role in Investor Relations, she produces market intelligence reports to provide meaningful insights for LPs. She also led the development and launch of a dedicated LP portal and continues to enhance it as a central hub for key data, market trends, and fund reporting tailored to LP needs.

Before joining LG Technology Ventures, Annie accumulated 10 years of experience building a solid foundation in financial planning, business analysis, strategic operations, and entrepreneurship. At LG Electronics, she optimized cost forecasting processes and supported key operational decisions through data-driven insights. At LG Fuel Cell Systems, she led financial planning across global stakeholders, including LG Fuel Cell System Korea and the Rolls-Royce Group, while improving executive visibility through detailed reporting and scenario analysis. She also managed investor relations communications, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of key financial information to LG affiliates. Earlier in her career, Annie served as Chief Financial Officer at the startup LeeAnni Eco, where she led the development and execution of the company’s financial strategy, supported revenue expansion initiatives, and implemented cost optimization measures to enhance operational efficiency. She began her professional journey as a Financial Analyst at a family-owned business while simultaneously gaining academic research experience as a Research Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin.
Annie holds a Master of Science in Finance from Texas Tech University and a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors.


Annie Song

Senior Manager, Investor Relations

Sungmin has over 15 years of experience in accounting, covering a variety of areas.
Sungmin started her career as an intern at CDNetworks HQ in Korea, a global content delivery network service company, and ended up working as an accountant for them for over six years. At CDNetworks, she conducted tax audits, due diligence audits by new shareholders, and implementation of the ERP systems for two foreign subsidiaries in Singapore and UK. She also supported the foreign subsidiaries regarding accounting matters such as auditing, book closing, and improvement of the accounting systems. Sungmin took an opportunity to work for the US subsidiary which brought her to the Bay Area where she worked as a senior accountant for the previous three years prior to joining LG Technology Ventures.
Sungmin holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Korea University. Her family loves hiking and going on camping trips all over California. She and her husband enjoy spending time in nature with two little boys.
 



Sungmin Kim

Senior Manager, Fund Accounting

Sunil has more than 8 years of professional experience, including accounting and auditing services in the life science, automotive, consumer goods, construction and hotel industries. 

He started his career as an auditor in Deloitte in Korea. He continued his career at KPMG located in New York and San Francisco. He has knowledge in IFRS / US GAAP and SOX compliance for the public company in the United States. He also holds experience at a furniture manufacturing company and was responsible for the monthly closing, planning, budget controls and risk management. 

Sunil earned his B.A. in Architecture Engineering and Business Administration from Yonsei University in Korea and is a licensed CPA both in Korea and the United States. He enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with his wife and baby girl. 

Sunil Hwang

Senior Manager, Fund Operation

David has over six years of experience in venture capital accounting, specializing in fund accounting operations. In his previous role as a Fund Accountant, he oversaw a wide range of activities, including investment tracking, capital calls, and distributions.

Before transitioning into the venture capital industry, David pursued his interest in the technology sector by attending a coding bootcamp in the Bay Area. During this time, he worked part-time as a teaching assistant and junior web developer, gaining proficiency in programming languages such as Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, and SQL. Through this experience, he honed his critical thinking skills and developed a passion for problem-solving.

Driven by his curiosity and desire to learn across diverse fields, David has pivoted his role toward branding, marketing, social media management, content creation, press relations, event planning, and property management at LG Technology Ventures.

David earned his B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. Outside of work, he is an active tennis player in the USTA (United States Tennis Association) league and teaches beginner-level classes for young children. With his passion for tennis, he also manages a community tennis group of over 80 members in the Bay Area, organizing weekly sessions every Monday.


David Kang

Marketing

Hyeonjeong is an experienced accounting and finance professional with over five years of expertise in corporate accounting, financial reporting, and audit coordination.

She began her career at POSCO America, a subsidiary of the global steel manufacturing leader POSCO, where she served as a Staff Accountant for three years before being promoted to Senior Accountant for an additional two years. During her tenure, she played a key role in managing the company’s accounting operations, overseeing both internal and external audits, performing detailed budget and expenditure analysis, and leading the monthly and annual closing processes in coordination with subsidiary entities.

Currently, Hyeonjeong serves as a Fund Accountant at a LG Technology Venture, where she is primarily responsible for fund accounting operations. Her work includes managing and analyzing fund expenses, overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual fund closings, and coordinating fund audits. She also serves as the main point of contact for all fund-related accounting communications, ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial reporting.

Hyeonjeong holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their two cats.


Hyeonjeong Son

Senior Fund Accountant

Taehwan is a finance professional poised to support entrepreneurs in building and growing their businesses. During his MBA program, he found his passion in the tech industry and the startup scene, working at a venture capital firm and a private equity firm.He is excited to bring his expertise and experience earned from various industries.

Prior to joining LG Technology Ventures, Taehwan had over five years of experience in the biotechnology and manufacturing industries. He started his career as an internal auditor and accountant at Yupoong Inc., an OEM manufacturing company. He continued hiscareer as an assistant manager of Global FP&A at Seegene Inc., a biotechnology company.

Taehwan holds an MBA from Columbia University in the city of New York and a BA in Economics and Management from Handong Global University in Pohang, Korea. He is a licensed CPA in the United States and a CFA level 3 candidate. Taehwan and his wife, Min Ji,are pleased to embark on a new journey with their newborn baby, Jaelyn, starting in 2025.

Senior Financial Analyst

Ilsim is an Executive Assistant at LG Technology Ventures, supporting CEO Dong-Su Kim.

Her passion for the role developed during her time at Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, where she was inspired by the dynamic energy of innovators and investors. Ilsim began her career as an Executive Assistant at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, supporting the Vice President. Later, she brought her skills to LG Display, where she provided high-level support to the President.

She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Dankook University and an MBA from John F. Kennedy University. Outside of work, Ilsim enjoys peaceful walks in the park with her husband and daughter.
